Meet the Founder
Doris began her Pilates journey decades ago, attending mat classes after long days as a classroom teacher. Drawn to the physical challenge and rehabilitative benefits, she returned to Pilates repeatedly over the years. During the pandemic, Doris made a significant career shift, earning her classical Pilates certification through Village Pilates Studio in Forest Park, completing over 750 hours of training. Around this time, she also discovered a passion for tennis and realized how Pilates complemented her game, improving both her performance and mindset. Doris found striking parallels between Pilates and tennis, beyond their shared emphasis on the mind-body connection. The foundational elements of Pilates—breathing, concentration, balance, and controlled, fluid movements—seamlessly translated to tennis, enhancing both her performance and mindset.
As Doris continued teaching at Village Pilates Studio and playing tennis, she became increasingly interested in the functional and therapeutic aspects of Pilates. In the fall of 2023, she entered the Polestar Pilates teacher training program, completing an additional 500+ hours focused on restorative, functional, and injury-preventive benefits. By the spring of 2024, Doris transitioned to teaching independently, working with private and duo clients. This new chapter brought her immense joy as she shared her passion for Pilates with her friends, neighbors, and tennis buddies. Doris found teaching deeply rewarding, witnessing firsthand the transformative effects Pilates had on her clients' movements and mindsets.
Now, in 2025, Doris is embarking on an exciting new venture: the launch of her own studio, Elevate Pilates Fitness. The studio will offer group classes, as well as private, duo, and trio sessions. Elevate Pilates Fitness combines classical Pilates exercises with the goal of elevating the mind, body, and spirit. Whether you're lifting a box, driving a golf ball 350 yards, or training for your next 10K, Elevate Pilates Fitness is here to help you unlock the transformative power of Pilates and elevate the way you move.
